Sunday 21st July 2024, Worcester

Worcester Rowing Club, Grandstand Road, Worcester WR1 3EJ

First Race 12.00pm

Enter your crew of Cox+4 for exciting river racing – £50/crew

This is a fun day (if competitive) and it is rowed in “fat Boats” – gigs – which are used to train

people new to the sport and are more forgiving than the usual “fine fours” used at normal club

regattas. The races are based on the British Rowing “Explore sprint” days which are specifically

for “new teams to rowing, the recreationally inclined or those who don’t train every day of the

week (or want to)”. It is a short course – about 250 metres – but you really have to have some

experience of rowing to enter. Each crew needs four oarsmen and a cox but if lodges/provinces

are a man or cox short, or if you wish to row and are not attached to a crew we can provide a

matchmaking service. Crews must have at least two masons rowing.

There is in place a full Safety Plan and Risk Assessment, including Covid 19, and the event is

being supported by Worcester Rowing Club, whose facilities we are using and to whom we are

very grateful.

The afternoon will conclude with a Duck Race on the River Severn. Hopefully recovery of the

ducks and prevention of escape to the wild will be the most onerous task of the afternoon for

our safety boat crews. Scan and follow the QR Code to sponsor your ducks to enter the race.

Grateful thanks to Worcester Rowing

Club for all their help
